I So Swear on the...Purpose Driven Life???
I ran across this story today, and I was a little bit more than concerned. Check this out.
Swearing on the Purpose Driven Life
Is this really the state of evangelical Christianity? I understand that Rick Warren's work is highly acclaimed and many have said that it is a life-changing book, but this is, I think, symptomatic of a deeper issue. What do you guys think?

Eek. I cringed when I read the first Congressman mention that he hears more Rick Warren each Sunday from his pastor than the Bible.
Ross and Michael, if you ever run for Congress, should I send you a leather-bound, gilded edition of "Mere Christianity"?
Do not think that I am leaving you out, Charlie. Should you ever enter the political fray I'll gladly provide you a copy of Piper & Grudem's "Recovering Biblical Manhood and Womanhood." Or maybe some Andy Stanley.
Drew,
I fell out of my chair laughing. Thanks.
Michael,
I think that this situation goes back to what we have discussed on the previous post. The Bible is too much work - I'll just read the cliff notes - P.D. Life or what have you - and then I'll get my daily dose of spirituality that way because I don't have time to study the Bible for myself!
Drew,
You've read me completely wrong. I'll take Prayer of Jabez please.
Charlie,
I think it goes beyond the idea that the Bible is too hard. Most people will work hard for what they think is valuable (despite the fact that this is becoming less and less common). I think, and we would probably all agree, that many people see the Bible as just another book, and an out-dated one at that. Obviously, I think most of the blame belongs at the feet of the pulpit.
